Women and Problems with Ovulation

12 Nov

Being pregnant is something that comes second nature to women. In fact, it is their purpose as the giver of life to this world. That is why there is no wonder why a woman should be filled with joy at just being pregnant because it is the very essence of her womanhood. However, there are plenty of problems that a woman may face, which affects her ability to conceive. One such problem has to do with her ovulation. While this is a rarely discussed state among women, the condition is one of the major factors that prevent a woman from conceiving.

Understanding the Causes of Ovulation Problems

Ovulation problems refer to the condition when a woman has difficulty releasing an egg, which is vital in conception. When no egg is released, a woman will not become pregnant. To better understand how this comes about, let’s start first with a woman’s menstrual cycle.

A woman’s menstruation is a release of unfertilized egg. When the menstrual cycle of a woman is irregular, the production of an egg is also irregular. In some cases, women suffer from a condition called anovulation. This means that they do not ovulate regularly and thus do not release an egg every month. On the other hand, there are women who require medication in order to trigger their body to ovulate. This condition is called anovulatory. Such women require medications that trigger follicle production. In some cases, a woman may not have menstrual periods for a very long time. This condition is known as amenorrhea. This means that a woman does not have menstruation for a very long time, and when they do, it is very heavy. All of these three conditions can cause ovulation problems.

Discovering the Treatment for Ovulation Problems

1) The most common, easiest, and cheapest mode of treating ovulation disorders in women is to take ovulation-inducing drugs. Such drugs are available from most drugstores although they require prior approval of a doctor in order for a woman to be able to obtain them.

2) Another method of treating ovulation problems is through counseling. While this process may work in some cases, there is no guarantee that it will work generally for all women suffering from these ovulation disorders. As a result, one will still have to undergo taking medications to induce ovulation.

Weighing the Advantages and Disadvantage of Inducing Ovulation

Just like in any medical treatment, there are positives and negatives to inducing ovulation. The positive side is that one will have a regular production of eggs. This will allow a woman to be capable of becoming pregnant easily.

The flip side to inducing the woman’s ovulation process is that she may suffer from nausea, vomiting, and frequent headaches when taking such medications. Some women have reported losing their appetite due to regular intake of ovulation-inducing drugs.  Moreover, because the medication has to be maintained, the induction of ovulation can be expensive to maintain.
